I am married to Ann Brickson, who is Children and Youth Program Coordinator at the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Our children Chris and Claire have attended Lapham, Marquette, O'Keeffe and East. Chris graduated from East in 2003 and Claire is now a sophomore.
I am an attorney in the Madison law firm of Stafford Rosenbaum LLP. My practice currently focuses on utility law and I am the leader of the firm's energy law practice. I am listed in Best Lawyers in America in the areas of telecommunications and antitrust law. I have formerly served as an assistant attorney general in the Wisconsin Department of Justice and my first job out of law school was as a trial lawyer in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington. I am a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Chicago Law School.
I have been involved with East High United, the parent group for East High, since the group was formed about four years ago. For the past two years, I have written up the minutes for the monthly EHU meetings. For the unusually curious,
here's a link to copies of those minutes.
When my children were much younger I was on the board of directors of Big Oak Child Care Center, and I took the lead in restructuring the Center after its predecessor ran into terminal financial problems. More recently, I was a member and vice-president of the board of directors of what is now the Goodman Atwood Community Center. My family and I have been block captains for Atwood's neighborhood food pantry program since the program was started several years ago.
I formerly served as a member (1992-1996) and Chair (1994-1996) of the City of Madison Economic Development Commission. Before that, I was a member (1987-1990) of the City of Madison Community Development Block Grant Commission. I am currently a member of Downtown Madison Inc. Economic Development Committee.
